The Rules that apply to all Rodbenders Competitions

 

Use only One Rod at a time.

Rods may be changed during each session but the skipper must be advised as any doubt will result in a catch to be discounted.

Foul Hooked.

Fish that are foul hooked will not be accepted which means only fish taking the baited hook or lure into its mouth will count.

Three Hook Rule

Unless otherwise stated the use of three hooks is the maximum permitted.

Fishing Territory

Fish must be caught in the designated area for local events as stipulated in that events rules. Otherwise fish must be caught at sea to be eligible for consideration from a registered charter boat that has set out from, and returns to, a port in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, Isles of Scilly, IOW or any port in the United Kingdom without having called at any port outside those countries. Fish caught in the territorial waters of other countries will not be eligible.

Weight of Fish

The fish must be weighed on land using digital scales or steel yards or commercial or trade scales which are checked regularly by the Weights and Measures Department. The sensitivity of the scales should be appropriate to the size of the fish, i.e. small fish should be weighed on finely graduated scales and the weight claimed for the fish should be to a division of weight an ounce. In the case of species weighing less than one pound the claimed weight must be submitted in grams. The weight must be verified by two independent witnesses or the skipper of the boat on which the fish was landed, but he/she or any witnesses must not be relations of the claimant.

Disputes

The skipper will be recognised as our referee and his decisions will be final Other disputes will be adjudicated by an appointed representative of Rodbenders and any decision will be final.

Prizes

Cash prises will be paid out in accordance with the rules of the particular competition. All other prizes are offered with no cash in value what so ever.
